Victor Osimhen has expressed his immense joy at being nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, marking a historic achievement for the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen, renowned for his prowess as a Napoli striker, was included in the elite list of 30 players nominated for the 2023 men’s Ballon d’Or by France Football Magazine on Wednesday. This distinction makes him the first Nigerian footballer to ever secure a place on the coveted shortlist.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a prolific campaign with Serie A champions, Napoli last season. The striker scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances to help Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years. Osimhen also netted five times in the UEFA Champions League for the Partenopei.
