Among Twitter fans, the 2015 football year belongs to two obvious players. They are Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo. But it’s hard to put a finger on which of the duo that would pick Europe’s most respected soccer award in Zurich today.

In opinion polls conducted by various soccer groups, opinion is divided over who emerges world’s best footballer in 2015. In their all-time record analysis, Messi has a slightly better goal-to-game ratio of 0.83 than Ronaldo with 0.68. But in the 2015/2016 campaign, Ronaldo leads with 25 goals in 21 appearances while Messi has 18 goals in 21 appearances.
Messi has won the prized award four times in a row from 2009 to 2012 while Ronaldo has also clinched the award thrice. Below are some of the views of Twitter fans ahead of today’s gala in Switzerland.
