Interswitch, a leading technology-driven company, has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s healthcare transformation agenda through innovative digital platforms showcased at the 111th Regular Meeting and 2025 Annual Conference of the Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Managing Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria.

The high-profile conference, according to a statement on Wednesday, hosted by the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, brought together hospital administrators, policymakers, and technology partners from across the country to explore ways to digitise healthcare delivery under the theme, “Smarter Processes, Better Healthcare.”

Held from October 14 to 17, 2025, the four-day event featured strategic sessions, interactive exhibitions, and high-level discussions on how digital technologies can improve efficiency, transparency, and patient outcomes in Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Interswitch featured prominently throughout the conference with a well-curated exhibition stand and a high-impact presentation during the corporate innovation segment. Babatunde Fadeyi, Vice President, Health Ecosystem (Public Sector), Industry Ecosystem & Platforms (Interswitch Indeco), led the company’s delegation and presentation, which drew keen interest from participants including CMDs, MDs, and senior tertiary hospital administrators.

In his presentation, Fadeyi emphasised Interswitch’s mission to bridge gaps within the healthcare value chain through seamless technology integration.

“At Interswitch, we are not just building technology; we are building bridges between care providers, patients, and policymakers,” he said. “Through platforms like HIMS, eClinic, and Smarthealth, we are empowering hospitals and HMOs to embrace digital transformation, making healthcare delivery more transparent, efficient, and patient-centred.”

At the event, Interswitch demonstrated its suite of digital health solutions, including the Health Information Management System, eClinic, and Smarthealth—platforms developed to improve administrative efficiency, data management, and patient care across hospitals and Health Maintenance Organisations.

The HIMS platform connects healthcare providers, HMOs, and subscribers through a unified ecosystem that simplifies claims processing, facilitates real-time data exchange, and enhances communication within the health value chain. The eClinic platform enables healthcare facilities to transition from paper-based operations to electronic medical records, significantly reducing errors and improving efficiency.

In contrast, Smarthealth empowers patients by providing telemedicine services, medical geolocation, symptom-checking tools, and personalised wellness tracking—making quality healthcare more accessible to individuals and communities.

Conference participants, including CCMDFTH Chairman, Prof Emem Bassey, visited the Interswitch exhibition booth and lauded the company for its forward-thinking approach to digitalising healthcare operations. They commended the firm’s efforts to enhance transparency, streamline administrative processes, and strengthen hospital systems nationwide.

Delegates also interacted with Interswitch’s product specialists to explore how these technologies could address long-standing challenges in patient data management, hospital efficiency, and accessibility. Many healthcare leaders praised Interswitch’s innovations as critical to tackling systemic bottlenecks that have historically constrained the country’s health institutions.

By actively engaging healthcare leaders at the 111th CCMDFTH Conference, Interswitch reinforced its leadership as a catalyst for digital healthcare transformation in Nigeria. The company’s participation underscored its long-term vision of building a connected, data-driven health ecosystem that supports smarter hospital management, improved patient experiences, and better health outcomes.

Looking ahead, Interswitch plans to deepen collaboration with hospitals, government agencies, and technology stakeholders to expand its digital health infrastructure across the country. The company’s continued investments in health technology aim to foster more efficient systems and sustainable solutions that align with Nigeria’s evolving digital economy and healthcare priorities.

As Fadeyi summed up during the conference, the future of Nigeria’s healthcare depends on collaboration, innovation, and trust in technology—values Interswitch continues to champion in its mission to power smarter processes and better healthcare for all.
