Consumers and electronic dealers in Nigeria have applauded Japan based electronics giant, Panasonic over the partnership announcement with SIMS Nigeria, one of the leading electronics and home appliances marketing/distribution Company in Nigeria. They also commended the brand for the siting of a full assembly plant in Lagos.
To maintain and regain more market share, Panasonic has fulfilled its promise to establish a state -of – the- art assembling plant in Lagos to complement its manufacturing plant in India, for the assembling of room Air-conditioning and TV sets in Nigeria. The well thought out plan is being diligently carried out with a view to creating jobs for Nigerian technicians and youths.

Some electronic dealers who spoke to BrandiQ at the popular Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Badagry Expressway, Lagos commended the Panasonic for the decision to establish their assembling plant, saying it will enable them to purchase items in wholesales and make it readily available for consumers and wholesalers within a reasonable price.
“This is a welcome development. A lot of people have been making demand for Panasonic products but we don’t really have it in the market. But now that the company has partnered with SIMS for distribution, we are very happy that we will now be able to purchase their products and sell them without stress”, said Andew Uwazuruike, an electronic dealer.
An Oyo-based dealer, Dayo Fagade, who was accosted at the market, described the return of Panasonic as huge reliefs that will enable him provide his Panasonic loyalist and other customers’ quality products offered by the company. He revealed that he has always recommended the Japanese product to its customers due to their durability, innovation and quality.
Fagade pleaded that the products should be made available to markets across the country especially during this yuletide period where consumers buy more electronic items.
“Panasonic is a big brand that needs no further introduction. We just want to appeal to Panasonic and SIMS to make the products available all across the country especially during this end of the year where people buy more electronic items”, he said.
Also, a consumer in Ikeja, Suliat Farouk said she has always loved Panasonic products because of their easy-to-know features. She urged Panasonic and SIMS to further consolidate their presence in the country and also make the products available in the North where, according to her ‘remain a big market for electronic products’.
Another consumer, Olaolu Olajuwon submitted that Panasonic push into the Nigeria market will further boast consumers’ option when selecting electronic items to buy in the market. To him, market competition is good to give consumers best preference.
It would be recalled that the partnership deal with SIMS is to facilitate the expansion project in the Nigerian market. It marks a renewed surge of Panasonic electronics and household appliances into the Nigerian market. In the past three decades, Panasonic had remained a household name in Africa and Nigeria in the areas of Air-conditioning and television as well as other home appliances, but later slowed down its competitive sales in Nigeria. However, now the company has decided to intensify her brands’ presence in the Nigerian market through SIMS.
