Experts Link ICT Governance To Improved Productivity

Feyisayo Popoola
Top players in the information technology industry say the IT governance and risk management, if integrated into management procedures, will improve business productivity.
How this could be achieved will be the crux of discussion at the 2018 leadership and technology summit in Lagos organised by New Horizons Nigeria, an information technology training company, in partnership with Logical Operations, a global publisher and certification company from Belgium.
The organisers said the summit would provide a platform for managers and top decision makers to learn about the latest technology innovations driving maximum business productivity.
According to them, the summit themed ‘Leading for Optimal Performance in the Digital Age’ will highlight how the IT governance and risk management impact on business productivity in the digital age.
According to the Managing Director, Logical Operations, James Varnham, the Centre for Leadership and Development will be unveiled at the summit, to facilitate the IT governance, risks, compliance and the five most important technology innovations driving business productivity.
The Managing Director, New Horizons Nigeria, Mr. Tim Akano, stressed the need for quality and revolutionary leadership skill across every stratum of the corporate world.
He added that New Horizons was introducing new paradigm in the teaching of leadership courses both for the ICT professionals and non-ICT professionals.
“It has been discovered that 80 per cent of the time when projects fail in an organisation, including government agencies, it is not due to lack of technical competence but mostly as a result of poor leadership skills,” Akano said.
Speaking further, he stated that he would like all business managers and senior government officials to take the opportunity and get empowered with the new set of skills required to thrive in the world of uncertainty and constant change.
