Former House Speaker Dumps PDP

A former speaker of the Niger state house of Assembly, Isa Kawu has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Kawu, who has been a member of the former ruling party for over 20 years wrote a letter to the party chairman in Cheniyan ward, Bida local government area of the state, withdrawing his membership of the party.
This development is coming barely three weeks after he made his intention to vie for the governorship of Niger State in what he termed ‘Rescue Mission to Change the Development Narrative of Niger.’
“I have withdrawn my membership of the PDP indefinitely,” Kawu said via telephone yesterday.
He was however silent on the alternative platform he would join ahead of 2019 elections. “I will make my decision known in due course; but definitely not APC,” he said.
The e-speaker revealed that he came to the decision after realising that the PDP has lost a lot of goodwill in Niger state.
