Luis Suarez Leaves Barcelona for Atletico Madrid for a price of £5.5m

Luis Suarez has joined Atletico Madrid from La Liga rivals, Barcelona for a fee of £5.5m on a two-year deal.

The 33-year old still had one more year on the contract he signed with Barca from 2016, but the new head coach Ronald Koeman last month had told Suarez that he was not part of his plans for the season.

He is going to be a replacement for Alvaro Morata who has again moved to Juventus earlier in the week.

Suarez is Barcelona’s second-highest goal-scorer of all time with 198 goals after leaving Liverpool in 2014.

Suarez won La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup during his stay at the Nou Camp.

Video footage showed Suarez leaving Barcelona’s training ground in tears on Wednesday at the completion of his transfer to Atletico Madrid.
