The stage is set for the grand finale of the Coderina University Challenge 2025, as the top 10 student-led innovation teams converge at the National Universities Commission Secretariat in Abuja on 20 November, organisers said on Tuesday.

Organised by the Coderina Education and Technology Foundation, COUCH aims to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship among tertiary institution students across Nigeria.

The 2025 edition has seen remarkable participation, with students developing solutions that tackle real-world challenges using technology and research-driven approaches.

This year’s grand finale coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week, a worldwide celebration of innovators and job creators under the theme “Together We Build.”
The alignment underscores Nigeria’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of innovators capable of driving inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and the private sector are expected to attend the event to witness the ingenuity of Nigeria’s young innovators and explore pathways for collaboration, mentorship, and investment.

The Founder of Coderina, Olajide Ajayi, said in a statement that the programme continues to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs, fostering innovation-led education across the country.

The top 10 finalist teams include, Neuronaut Robotics, Nile University of Nigeria, developed autonomous underwater vehicles for subsea pipeline inspection, Team Green, Kwara State University, created SUNPOD, a portable solar-powered station to provide affordable, off-grid electricity, Team CIRCLE, Federal University of Technology Akure, built an AI-driven, IoT-enabled waste management system for cleaner, more efficient disposal, Pup Industries, Ahmadu Bello University, converts plastic waste into eco-friendly, mosquito-repellent paint, Waste2Light, Federal University of Technology Minna, transforms waste materials into sustainable energy solutions for underserved communities, ScrapLink, Lagos State University, launched a digital marketplace connecting small-scale scrap metal sellers with verified buyers using AI, ADSU Fresh Innovators, Adamawa State University, produces eco-friendly lubricant grease from polyethylene waste, Team IMSU, Imo State University, converts palm oil waste into clean energy and biochar for rural communities, ReGenX, Kaduna State University ,  developed biodegradable packaging material that can turn into a biofertiliser, EcoCircular Labs, Igbinedion University, transforms palm oil byproducts into sustainable biofertiliser.

The COUCH programme has become a national platform for showcasing how Nigerian youth are using creativity and technology to reimagine the future.
