AFRIMA, Others Hold Emergency Summit for Music Sector Revitalization

In a proactive move to address and tackle critical challenges plaguing the music industry, the AFRIMA Music Business Summit, in collaboration with key industry stakeholders such as the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Record Label Proprietors Initiative (RELPI), Association of Music Artist Managers of Nigeria (AMAMN), and Music Publishers Association of Nigeria (MPAN), is set to convene an emergency summit today, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023.

The virtual summit, designed to explore sustainable solutions for the rebirth of the music, entertainment, arts, culture, and hospitality sectors in Nigeria, kicks off at 6:00 PM (Nigerian time) via the Zoom platform.

Mike Dada, President of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, disclosed that the meeting would bring together a diverse range of stakeholders. This includes musicians, record labels, A&R professionals, producers, promoters, artiste managers, brands, songwriters, DJs, video vixens, video directors, equipment production and rental companies, publishing companies, streaming service companies, entertainment lawyers, royalty companies, choreographers/dancers, entertainment/music journalists and media, culture and music enthusiasts, as well as supporting professionals like cameramen, editors, makeup artists, hairstylists, and costumiers.

At the core of the summit’s agenda is the generation of innovative ideas and proposed bills aimed at professionalizing the music and entertainment industry. The expected outcome is a collective effort to overcome challenges and propel the sector towards sustainable growth.
