World Leaders, Tech Giants Sign Pact To Safeguard Looming Danger Of AI

Worried by the ominous threat posed by Artificial Intelligence to humans, western leaders and tech gurus have come together to sign a pact “Bletchy Declaration” as a guiding principle that will chart a safe way forward on the rapidly evolving technology.

Over 25 countries gathered at Bletchley Park, England on Wednesday to discuss the danger of the new technology at the first ever two days AI Summit led by British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

Recently, some tech executives and political leaders have raised a serious concern on the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and the existential threat it poses to the world if not quickly controlled.

Apparently disturbed by the looming danger, Rishi Sunak facilitated a gathering of world leaders and tech bosses among who are Elon Musk, ChatGPT’s Sam Altman and others at Bletchley Park, home of Britain’s World War Two code-breakers to discuss the possible way of preventing the impending doom.

While signing the document, countries which include United State of America, China, and EU believed that they needed to work together and establish a common approach on oversight.

Before now, China has vehemently defended her position on the safety of AI and while the world has nothing to fear about the disrupting technology. The country has sought to develop a core AI industry worth approximately $2.1 billion by 2020 and will firmly seize the strategic initiative to reach world-leading levels of AI investment by 2030.

Despite this projection and the fierce geopolitical rivalry it has maintained and sustained over the years, British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak while speaking on first day of the summit, believed there can’t be a robust and substantive conversation about AI without a leading nation like China.

“It is the right decision for the country in the long term. I think there can’t really be a substantive conversation about AI without involving the world’s leading AI nations. And China is indisputably one of those.

“I’m pleased that they have engaged. It hasn’t happened for a long time that you know we’ve all signed the same bit of paper, whether that is us ,the Americans, Europeans or China, which I think is a good sign of progress,” Sunak said.
