A senator representing Bayelsa East Constituency at the National Assembly, Senator Ben Murray Bruce says the consumption of locally made products would boost the economy of the country.

Senator Ben Bruce made the statement in a reaction to a memorandum of understanding signed by the Federal Government signed with Nasco Foods Limited on Monday for the production of biscuits with high nutrient density for the national feeding program.
He urged Nigerians to patronise locally made products ahead of imported brands, saying protection of local industries is critical boosting the value of the nation’s falling currency.
At a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and senior officials of relevant agencies last year, President Muhammadu Buhari promised that his administration will implement essential reforms to protect Nigerian manufacturers from unfair competition from abroad.
