In a deliberate bid which aims at expanding its business frontiers, foremost Nigerian dairy industry manufacturer, FrieslandCampina WAMCO has disclosed its acquisition and takeover of Nutricima’s production facility Ikorodu in Lagos State.
The company said the acquisition of Nutricima is in line with its cooperate mission and a demonstration of its commitment to Nigeria’s dairy market where it has played a dominant role in many decades. Nutricima is a diary company and the maker of Olympic, Coast and Nunu range of powdered, evaporated and ready-to-drink milk brands.
Speaking on the acquisition and takeover, President of FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy, Roel van Neerbos, said the company’s decision of acquiring Nutricima was in demonstration of its commitment to Nigeria’s dairy market wherein the company have been a d key player for decades.
He said “FrieslandCampina WAMCO has been a key player in Nigeria since 1954. With this acquisition, we demonstrate our strong commitment to Nigeria and its dairy market.”
Also speaking, the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria, Mr. Ben Langat, said the company was pleased with the acquisition adding that the organization’s mission was to continually bring affordable and attainable quality dairy products to all Nigerians and to meet the growing market demand.

He further noted that operations have commenced at the newly acquired plant, adding that the acquisition is expected to satisfy the need for additional production capacity for FrieslandCampina WAMCO to meet the growing demand for locally produced evaporated and powdered milk by Nigerian consumers.
The board of PZ Cussons Nigeria, owners of the Nutricima label had at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) with shareholders earlier in July deliberated on how it would transact the sale of Nutricima Limited to FrieslandCampina. The board of directors reportedly agreed on the sale and transfer of Nutricima production plant to FrieslandCampinaWamco Nigeria Plc of all the portion of land measuring approximately 67,733.235 square meters, alongside all rights and investment interests in the buildings and improvements.Nutricima Limited was founded in Nigeria in 2005 and has, since then, earned itself consumer awareness within the dairy industry.
