Wale Adenuga Productions TV, one of Nigeria’s foremost family entertainment channels is set to hold its maiden edition of the Nigeria Comedy Awards to honour outstanding comedy acts and performances in the country.
The event which is scheduled to hold on Sunday 24th September 2023, at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos is expected to have in attendance movers and shakers of the entertainment industry and to be watched by millions across the world on wapTV (DStv 262, StarTimes 116, GOtv 129, FreeTV 751, and Play 275), according to organisers.
The event will be hosted by KIE KIE and have special performances from 2baba, 9ice, and Akpororo.
Wale Adenuga, Co-Executive Producer, Nigeria Comedy Awards further reveals, “As the event draws nearer, we are well aware of the high level of anticipation by nominees, as well as their fans across Nigeria and worldwide. We are working intensively with Indomie Noodles, Airtel, Malta Guinness, Peak Milk, Fanta, and other brands who have partnered with us to make the event a great success. One of the highlights of the night would be the ‘Revelation of the Year’ Category which has Layi Wasabi and Soso as nominees, with the winner receiving a cash prize of N1,000,000 in addition to the plaque which other winners would be receiving”.
The nominees to be awarded include My Flatmates and The Johnsons for the Best Comedy TV Show/ Series; Powski of Max FM and Yaw for the Best Comedy Radio Personality; Jude OC and Ajebo for Best Animation; Kiriku and Success for Best Comedy Kid; Dada Adekola and Solomon Vi for Best Comedy Cartoonist.
Others are Josh2funny and Kenny Blaq for the Best Comedy Musician; Taaooma and Tomama for the Best Comedy Skit-maker (female); Mr. Macaroni and Sabinus for the Best Comedy Skit-maker (male); Passport and Battle on Bukka Street for the Best Comedy Movie; Mercy Johnson and Bimbo Ademoye for Best Comedy Actor, Series/Movie (female); Broda Shaggi and Charles Inojie for Best Comedy Actor, Series/Movie (male); AY Live and Responsible for Best Stand Up Comedy Show; Helen Paul and Real Warri Pikin for Best Stand Up Comedian (female); Bovi and Basket Mouth for Best Stand Up Comedian (male); and Real Sophy and Layi Wasabi for Revelation of the year.
