AAAN Unfolds Plans For 2020 LAIF Creative Awards

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has unfolded activity plans towards successful staging of 2020 edition of the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival, LAIF creativity awards.

The award which is now in its 15th edition has been slated to hold on December 12, 2020 and according to the organizers, this years event will happen virtually in line with protocols of the Covid-19 pandemic that has ravaged businesses and the larger global economy in course of the year.Addressing brands industry journalists during a virtual media briefing, President of the Associations,  Mr Steve Babaeko unfolded activity plans for the award which will run with the theme: Grind and Shine.

According to the association boss who also is Chief Executive Officer, X3M Ideas, this years award is quite significant considering that, it is first ever virtual edition in  15 years history of the prestigious creative awards owing to the global corona virus pandemic.

He said despite the negative impacts and challenges thrown up by the pandemic  a whole lot of technology has been put to play in molding  brands in course of the year and to that extent, the association deems  it fit to “stand up for creativity” and ensure that the LAIF award continues by giving honor to brands,  agencies and clients behind  the success of brands in course of the business year.

The theme : Grind and Shine he emphasized,  honors the clients, agencies and the brands considering, especially how they have had to grind  to  put efforts on brand in  the course  of a most difficult year.Also speaking, Chairman, 2020 LAIF Management Board and CEO of  Noah’s Ark Communications, Lanre Adisa highlighted the many challenges and sacrifices put in to play to ensure success of the award while commending efforts by judges and award jury.

He explained that entries had so far been received from local and international agencies and clients for creative works covering periods between June 2019 uptill July 2020.He added that entry fees for the awards had been reduced in consideration of covid 19 impact on businesses noting that the award will feature also, young LAIF creative seminar which will hold a day earlier to the main awards .The Young LAIFERS competition is a creative contest organized by LAIF to discover and promote young talents within the  industry.

“We are excited and very much encouraged in giving LAIF the importance it requires” he said, adding that despite the challenges experienced in course of the year, brands must come together to make people smile and worth living  and give meaning to life.

The LAIF awards which debuted in 2006 was instituted under the initiative of the leadership of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) with the objective of recognising, rewarding and fostering creative excellence in all areas of marketing and marketing communications sphere in Nigeria.
