Lagos State Government says it will embark on the review of its school curriculum in order to align the content of the curriculum with immediate and future needs of the State, the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has disclosed.
Governor Ambode, who spoke yesterday at the Lagos International Education Conference, noted that the review of the curriculum was crucial as the content of education curricula determines the quality of the man power that will eventually be produced.
Ambode who spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olabisi Ariyo, pointed out that a paradigm shift in the education sector was necessary for the state economy to achieve a quantum leap from the current $131billion GDP as well as remain competitive.

“Our administration is not oblivious of the role of education in the level of economic development that we envisioned for the State. We know that for the State economy to achieve a quantum leap from the current $131billion GDP and remain very competitive, there must be a paradigm shift in the education sector,”he stated.
Ambode said the challenges of the educational sector must be tackled head on if Nigeria must be active participants in the present knowledge-based global system, assuring that the state government places a premium on the improvement of physical and human infrastructure in public schools.
