Naija Times, a prominent online newspaper, is preparing to commemorate its third anniversary with a grand event featuring a lecture and book presentation set for October 19, 2023, at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The third-anniversary celebration promises to be a gathering of prominent figures from various spheres, including government officials, ministers, state governors, National Assembly members, and media professionals. Moreover, guests from the private sector, academia, the diplomatic community, development agencies, the clergy, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and women’s groups will lend their perspectives to this celebratory occasion.
Ehi Braimah, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Naija Times, expressed gratitude for reaching this three-year milestone while acknowledging the formidable challenges of sustaining a media organization in today’s economic climate. He commended key figures such as Akpandem James, Chairman of the Editorial Advisory Board, and Jahman Anikulapo, Editorial Director, along with other Editorial Advisory Board professionals, for their invaluable contributions.
Supported by strategic partners, including Nigerian Breweries Plc., Nigerian Communications Commission, UBA, Dangote, and Air Peace, this year’s event boasts a remarkable lineup of distinguished individuals from various fields. These include Mr. John Momoh (OON, NPOM), Chairman/CEO of Channels Media Group, who will serve as Chairman of the occasion, and Aremo Segun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State, who will preside as the Father of the Day.
For the keynote address, the event will host the accomplished journalist, TV anchor, radio host, and former presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati. He will address the topic, ‘Journalism in the service of society,’ resonating with the core values of Naija Times.
The book presentation segment will feature Azu Ishiekwene, an acclaimed Nigerian writer and the Editor-in-Chief of Leadership newspaper. Ishiekwene will review the book titled, ‘For a Better Society,’ a compilation of Naija Times editorials addressing contemporary issues spanning from September 2020 to July 2023.
According to the organizers, the decision to compile Naija Times’ editorials into a book was motivated by a desire to provide a valuable resource for professionals and stakeholders across diverse sectors. This book encompasses a wide array of topics, serving as an essential reference for media practitioners, policy analysts, legal experts, scholars, activists, and more.
Naija Times was officially launched on September 15, 2020, with a mission to advocate for a better Nigeria characterized by strong institutions, respect for the rule of law, and unwavering dedication to the public interest.
