NIMN Approves New Code for Marketing Professionals

President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Tony Agenmonmen has disclosed that the Council of the institute has formally approved a new code that would henceforth guide professional conduct for marketing professionals in the country.

The institute boss who spoke recently during a media chat explained that the new code which takes formal effect beginning from September 1, 2020, is targeted at promoting the highest standard of professional conduct amongst marketing professionals and to also ensure that ethical norms and values are strictly adhered to by registered members of the institute. 

According to him, the 2003 NIMN Act establishing the institute empowers the NIMN Council to make rules and regulations guiding professional conduct among marketing professionals and as required by the Act, a copy of the new code has been presented to the office of the Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr. Niyi Adebayo, which is the supervising ministry.

The Council of NIMN had at the end of its AGM/Conference which held earlier in Júly proposed draft code of Professional marketing practice for its members. The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria is the body for professionals engaged in marketing and related fields including sales and marketing directors, customers’ managers, relationship directors, media planners, channel developers, creative directors, value builders, enterprise builders, corporate and institutional governors, transformers, marketing, and mass communication experts, general managers, and chief executive officers.

The institute was established by Act of the National Assembly No. 25 of 2003 with chartered status. The chartered status conferred it the responsibility to regulate and standardize marketing professional practice through the conduct of comprehensive examinations, training, retraining, and consultancy activities geared towards ensuring that members adopt a professional approach in marketing and other related areas of marketing activities.
