The Presidency, on Tuesday, described the backlash over President Buhari’s interview with an international medium as a complete misunderstanding with the President’s intention.
In a statement released by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, he noted that the president stated an obvious truth.
“Unfortunately, there are also Nigerians giving their country a bad image abroad, and it is to those Nigerians that the President referred in his comments,” he said, adding that even though people play politics with the President’s comments, it is true that Nigerians abroad have dented the nation’s reputation.
“These Nigerians who leave their country to make mischief on foreign shores, have given the rest of us a bad reputation that we daily struggle to overcome.”
He charged Nigerians to appreciate the sincerity of the president and his efforts to rid the country of the problems.
