Nigerian Breweries Announces The Exit of Yedikardesler

Nigerian Breweries Plc has officially announced the resignation of Mrs. Yeliz Yedikardesler from her position on the Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director, effective from October 6, 2023. This decision follows her departure from the Heineken Group.

The announcement was made through a corporate disclosure released by the company secretary, Uaboi G. AGBEBAKU, FCIS, on October 9, 2023.

Mrs. Yedikardesler’s journey with Nigerian Breweries began as a result of her role as the Senior Director of Finance, Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe at the Heineken Group. Prior to this role, she served as the Regional Finance Director at Mars Wrigley Middle East Africa (MEA), Mars Incorporated, Dubai UAE, where she spent seventeen years and advanced through various functions.

With a remarkable career spanning over 23 years in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, specializing in Finance and Strategy, Mrs. Yedikardesler brings a wealth of expertise in commercial and financial management, financial operations, strategy development, risk management, corporate finance, environment, sustainability, governance, business integration, transformational projects, and people leadership across diverse geographies.

Mrs. Yedikardesler’s resignation coincides with Nigerian Breweries Plc reporting an exchange rate loss of N70.6 billion for the second quarter of 2023. This financial result is attributed to the unification of exchange rates and the revaluation of dollar-denominated loans, adding an intriguing layer to the unfolding narrative surrounding her departure.

In a rapidly evolving corporate landscape, Mrs. Yedikardesler’s exit underscores the fluidity of leadership roles within the Nigerian business scene and raises questions about the future direction of both Nigerian Breweries Plc and the Heineken Group. This development marks a significant shift in the Nigerian brewing industry, reflecting the changing dynamics of leadership in the sector.
