#MSG2021: Mayorkun Thrills Athletes As Maltina Rewards Winners With Prizes In Abuja Finals

Nigeria’s number one malt brand, Maltina has announced the winners for the Abuja state finals of the second edition of the Maltina School Games which took place between 8th and 10th of June, 2021. 

Held at FCT Sports Complex, Area 10 Garki, Abuja, the event featured 44 finalists of which a total of four winners were selected based on the number of gold medals they had won. The winners went home with the grand prize of 500,000 Naira and an educational tablet each.

The overall winner in the Boys Senior Category, John Benedict from GSS, Lugbe, won highest gold medals in 200M and 400M while Miracle Oguama representing the ADSS, Abuja emerged the overall winner with highest gold medals in High jump and Short-Put Games under the Senior Girls Category. 

Commenting on his remarkable feat, John Benedict said: ‘’I am very happy that I have finally won something for my School and I am very grateful to Maltina’’, he said. John added that he thoroughly enjoyed the event and would like to extend a hand of gratitude to the entire Maltina Team as well as the NSSF for organising this laudable initiative.

Blessing Luka from JSS, Kilankwa II, Abuja emerged the overall winner in the Junior Girls Category with the highest number of gold medals in 400M Relay. Rufai Yakubu representing JSS, Karshi, Abuja bagged the overall winner under the Junior Boys Category with the highest gold medals in 400M Relay respectively. Every participant also received a certificate of participation and exciting branded gifts courtesy of Maltina.

Speaking on the importance of the event to the brand, the Brand Manager, Maltina, Chiamaka Efulu, said, “The journey has been very fulfilling so far seeing the students happy and  forming bonds as you know Maltina is all about sharing happiness. We are very proud of all the students, especially the winning athletes who will take home the grand prize. We trust that this will be the beginning of greater strides for all of them as Maltina is committed to sustaining this platform to discover as many talents as possible”

In attendance was the President of the Nigeria School Sports Federation, Mr. Olabisi Joseph, ably represented by Dr Funsho Usman, congratulated the winners and commended the Maltina Team as well as the NSSF for their efforts in reviving school sports development in the country.

In the same vein, the Chairman, Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Adamu Jatau Noma (Mni), who was ably represented by Mr Kola Rabiu as well as Dr Mrs Evelyn Otaigbe, Director of Education Services, FCT, cheered the excited athletes with kind words as they urged them to keep the spirit of sportsmanship and winning on while thanking Maltina for sustaining the legacy of talents discovery by catching them young.

Overall, the event proved to be a worthwhile experience for the participants, parents and attendees as they were thrilled with a live performance by one of Nigeria’s foremost Hip-Hop Artistes, Mayorkun who held the audience spellbound with his enthralling hits.
