APC Criticise Fayose For Opposing China’s Aid

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated the actions of Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, following his opposition of the $2billion Chinese loans sought by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The party argued that the request for the controversial loan was well-intentioned, adding that the initiative was a common practice among countries of the world that explore bilateral relations to foster development.
On Wednesday, governor Fayose had written to the government of China not to approve the loan request to implement the development constituents of the Nigerian 2016 budget. The letter, which was addressed to President XI Jinping, was sent through his emissary to the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, while Fayose personally took a copy of the letter to Shanghai to be delivered to the Chinese President.
However, APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, had described Fayose’s conduct as sabotage that should be rejected by well-meaning Nigerians. He wondered why the governor decided to waste the lean resources of his state while workers’ salaries had remained unpaid for months.
“As we speak, doctors are on strike and Ekiti people are dying while the governor gets himself busy with the activities that will lead to evasion of justice in his several alleged criminal cases so that he can protect his questionable wealth across the world. Even though he has the right to entertain himself being a jester as he has always been, this should not be taken to the extent of constituting a security risk to the Federal Republic,” he said in a statement.

“While other PDP governors, notably Governor Ayade of Cross River State, are always in Aso Rock on building relationship with the Federal Government for the development of their states, Fayose has made himself a lone enemy of the Federal Government as a self-appointed leader of the opposition to discredit Buhari’s development initiatives.
