Buhari Appoints Waziri Adio NEITI Boss

President Muham­madu Buhari, on Tuesday, named Mr. Waziri Adio as Execu­tive Secretary of the Nige­ria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
Adio’s appointment was announced in a statement issued by Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, Director of Press in Office of the Secretary to the Govern­ment of the Federation. The statement said the President also approved the appointment of a new Governing Board for NEITI with the Minister of Solid Minerals Development to serve as the Chairman.

Prior to his appointment, Adio was a communication consultant and Publisher of Metropole Magazine. He had also served as communication specialist with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), before proceeding to serve as Director of Communication, NEITI from 2007 to 2008.
He gradu­ated with a BSc. (Mass Communication) from the University of Lagos in 1992 and went ahead to obtain MSc. (Journalism) degree from Columbia University, New York, United States of America in 1999. He also holds a Masters’ degree in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA, 2009

President Buhari also named a Governing Board for NE­ITI, which included the Minister of Solid Minerals Development- as Chair­man, Permanent Secre­tary, Federal Ministry of Finance (member); the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petro­leum Corporation (NNPC) as member; President, Miners Association of Ni­geria (member); represen­tative of the Civil Society Organisations (to be elect­ed by the organisations) as member; President, Nige­ria Mining and Geoscienc­es Society (member) and President, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG)-Member.
