My Seven Point Agenda To Make PR A Greater Profession – Nkechi Ali-Balogun

From my heart to you – Nkechi Ali-Balogun (NAB)

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
I stand before you today with unwavering conviction and an unyielding commitment to the ideals upon which our beloved Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) was founded. Sixty years ago, visionaries in our field embarked on a journey to establish a bastion of professionalism and excellence. Today, I humbly request your vote to continue this noble tradition and steer NIPR towards greater heights.
Competence and Leadership:

I come before you with a track record steeped in competence, unwavering ethical values, and proven leadership ability. Our forebears’ leadership envisioned what NIPR could be. I am determined to amplify that noble vision and connect it with the realities of our new world. Clearly, yesterday’s methodologies cannot resolve today’s world’s complex problems. I am Nkechi Ali-Balogun, ready to work with you to make NIPR practice brave the realities of the new world with your kind support.

My Agenda
My vision for NIPR rests on these cardinal points:

  1. Caderisation: Strengthening professional cadres to ensure excellence at all levels.
  2. Organizational Renewal: Breathing new life into our institute.
  3. A Befitting Secretariat: Providing NIPR with the infrastructure it deserves.
  4. Increased Revenue Generation: To sustain and expand our initiatives.
  5. Digitization: Embracing technology for efficiency and reach.
  6. Improved Chapter Capacity and Collaboration
  7. Global Recognition and Affiliations

Moreover, I’m dedicated to prioritizing capacity building, empowering our chapters, and initiating an academic publication to document our practices. Compliance with the rule of law and unwavering adherence to ethical standards will be non-negotiable.

Competence and Capacity:
My educational background includes an MBA in Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, and a master’s in Mass Communication. I’ve also honed my skills internationally, earning recognition from the Frank Jefkins School of Public Relations, London. Today, I’m a doctoral research candidate at the University of Lagos, further expanding my knowledge and expertise.
Professionalism and Excellence:
Under my leadership, NIPR will be a beacon of professionalism and excellence. We will champion ethical conduct, strategic thinking, and transparency. Together, we will build trust, enhance credibility, and reshape the national perception of Nigeria.
Leadership and Recognition:
I have consistently contributed to elevating PR practice, reputation, and influence. As a Fellow and Governing Council member of NIPR and a Senior Member of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), I have worked tirelessly to raise our profession’s profile. My accolades include prestigious awards such as the PR Golden Eagle Award and the African Women Leaders Organization (AWLO) award.
Ethical Compliance and Integrity:
I have upheld the highest ethical standards throughout this campaign and my career. I believe in fair competition and ask that our profession stays above the fray of typical politics.
Inclusive PR:
Electing the first female president of NIPR aligns with global trends. I advocate for equal opportunities for ALL within our field.

In conclusion, I am deeply grateful for your time and consideration. Your vote for Nkechi Ali-Balogun is for competence, commitment, and preserving our core values. Together, we can usher in a new era of excellence in public relations.

Thank you for your trust and support.
Yours sincerely,
Nkechi Ali-Balogun
