No fewer than 23 Nigerian writers will be honoured in October 2015 at the Annual Nigerian Writers’ Awards. According to the organisers, the programme seeks to recognize Nigerian writers who are making a difference with their works.
In a release, the organisers listed the various award categories to include: Business Writer of the Year, Political Writer of the Year, Entertainment Writer of the Year, News Writer of the Year, Feature Writer of the Year, Blog Writer of the Year, Health Writer of the Year, Sports Writer of the Year, Script Writer of the Year, Song Writer of the Year (RnB, Pop, Indigenous) and Poetry Writer of the Year.

Others are Campus Writer of the Year, Indigenous Writer (Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Pidgin), Fiction Writer, Non-fiction Writer, Faith-based Writer, Motivational Writer, Romance Writer, Child/Teenage Writer, Diaspora Writer, Young Writer of the Year and Writer of the Year.
According to the statement, “the Award Jury is composed of individuals of high moral stature with demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the nation and who have distinguished themselves in their respective writing fields.
Winners will be decided on the basis of originality, influence, creativity, consistency and impact. Nomination for the awards closes on September 10.
