Olusegun McMedal Becomes Lagos NIPR Chair

By Lukmon Oloyede.
Olusegun McMedal, Managing Director of Upticomm Marketing Company Limited has been elected the new Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Chairman of the electoral committee, Col. Agim John, on Thursday declared McMedal winner with 50 votes to defeat the immediate past chairman, Barrister Joseph Okonmah, who had 29 votes.
However, the third contestant, Abraham Olusola-Niyi who was the chairman of the caretaker committee of the Lagos chapter after Okonmah’s reelection was annulled in July 2015, was disqualified prior to the election.
BrandiQ learnt his disqualification was due to the inability of his committee to deliver on certain standards in which the committee was set.
While 82 members were accredited for the election, only 79 votes were recorded.
The election was held at HOCAL suites of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba.
