Suinami Lagos recently hosted a community event at the High Point Event Centre, Ikeja, aimed at educating Nigerians, particularly youths, on the potential of blockchain technology for financial inclusion.

The programme encouraged participants to explore blockchain as a means to conduct seamless financial transactions without relying on traditional banking services, drawing hundreds of attendees eager to learn and engage.

Lead Developer Tutor for the Sui ecosystem in Nigeria, Ukeje Goodness, described the initiative as a “blockchain community event aimed at making transactions easier for people”, adding that it was designed to raise awareness of the blockchain ecosystem and inspire young Nigerians to develop innovative solutions.

Highlighting recent developments, Goodness noted, “In Nigeria, apps like Penguin Chat have built entire backend systems on Sui. These innovations show that Nigerians can create applications on blockchain that were previously difficult or costly to develop. Blockchain infrastructure is an area where Nigerian talent is excelling, both locally and internationally.”

Blockchain enthusiast and technical writer Lilibel Obiadika emphasised the event’s role as a networking and skill-building platform.

She encouraged youths to develop marketable skills, saying, “Skill up, get your money up by learning and applying new skills. No one is going to save you; you have to work smart and work hard.” She also expressed optimism about Sui’s growth potential in Nigeria and globally, noting that this first major Sui event is just the beginning of wider adoption.
