Chief Olabode George, a former deputy national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, has argued against having the Nigerian judiciary choose election winners.
George stated that allowing the judiciary to determine election winners takes away the right of the people to determine poll winners in response to the presidential election tribunal’s announcement that it would render a decision today.
He uttered; “Our nation has been progressing, albeit largely negatively and very little positively. Since I’ve worked for five presidents, I’ve been thinking both as a civilian and as a former military officer over the past few days.

“Our electoral system is a mess, makes no sense, and sends the nation into a tailspin. It is system manipulation. “A glitch on election day is unforgivable, but INEC chairman told us they were prepared; however, after what happened, future generations will never forgive him.”
Currently, the judiciary, one of the foundations of government, is the most divisive topic in Nigeria. What we mean by democracy is government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but in our particular case it shouldn’t be government of the judiciary, by the judiciary, and for the judiciary.
That seems democratic.
“What should prevail is the public will.
Ask them to conduct a new election if you find any mistakes, even if it takes a hundred times.
Telling us who won or lost is not the judiciary’s responsibility.
