Nigeria

After a slow start to the tournament the Super Eagles now stand as the most experienced and favorite team at this stage. Making their 16th appearance in the CAF AFCON semi-final, Nigeria aim to secure a spot in the final. Despite a terrible starting from a drawn match against Equatorial Guinea and one of their worst game of the tournament against the host Cote d’ivoire in the second game in which the Nigeria team won by a solitary goal.
the defence has proved resilient, conceding only one goal so far and they I’ve grown so tremendously as the tournament gets to the latter stage. The players now have understanding of them selves and are now beginning to gel with the coach system of play.

Key Stat: Nigeria are the only team to reach the semi-final without playing extra time.

DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo secured its quarter final victory in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, 2023 against Guinea.
the Leopards displayed resilient and strength by overcoming an early goal scored by the Guinean team to win 3-1. This victory marks the fifth time in the history of DR Congo that they have reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Key Stat: Whenever DR Congo won the cup in 1968 and 1974, they always eliminate the host country in the semi-final. In 1968, they beat Ethiopia 2-3 after extra time, and in 1974, they beat Egypt by the same scoreline.
Now they play the host again.

Côte d’Ivoire

The Elephants makes the headlines globally for a negative reason after been disgrace and beaten 4-0 by Equatorial Guinea in their last group stage match.
They were thought to be eliminated but got a second chance to qualify as the last third best loser after the Zambian team could not get a draw against Morocco.
they bounced back, eliminating the reigning African champions, Senegal In a dramatic fashion in penalties after a score draw and against Mali in the quarter final Oumar Diakité’s last-minute goal in extra time secured their place in the semi-finals. They will play their ninth semi-final appearance against DR Congo, setting the stage for a rematch of the 2015 semi-final where the Elephants emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.

Key Stat: Côte d’Ivoire won their first Africa Cup of Nations match in extra time since the 1992 quarterfinals, which they eventually won.

South Africa

The Bafana Bafana returns to the semifinal, ending a 24-year absence from the Cup of Nations semi-finals. The South Africans surprised and impressed everyone by eliminating Morocco, a World Cup semi-finalist and also the favorite to lift the AFCON and then beating the previously unbeaten Cape Verde

Their journey continues in the semi-finals, where they face familiar foes Nigeria.

Key Stat: In their last semi-final appearance, South Africa suffered a 2-0 loss to Nigeria.
This AFCON has been one of the most entertaining so far and is full of surprise and upset with all the previously favorite and big boys been knocked out by some minnows.
But at this semifinal stage now, I see The Super Eagles of Nigeria lifting the AFCON as most of the team that gives them alot of troubles are already out.
But all the other African team left in this tournament I’ve all grown in stature and I won’t be suprise if any major upset still happens. Watch out
