Building Skill, Capacity and Technical expertise – GROHE Inaugurates First GIVE Academy to Train Students to Become Installers Nigeria.

In recent times, there has been a gaping need in Nigeria’s plumbing industry; a lack of skill and technical know-how amongst plumbers. With constant innovations and developments in the sanitary industry, there exists a dearth of skilled workers who are up to date with the latest industry trends and innovations. This is a problem that GROHE, the world’s leading brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, has identified and sought to solve through its signature GROHE Installer and Vocational Training and Education (GIVE) program in Nigeria.

The GROHE GIVE program is aimed at bridging the gap of skilled installers in the sanitary industry worldwide while enabling young people to create a prosperous future for themselves.

Consequently, GROHE has been able to deliver on this promise with the establishment of over twelve training facilities where the internationally recognised GIVE program trains aspiring plumbers into world class professionals. In the EMENA region, the brand actively aids a total of 41 plumbing schools with the GIVE Programme.

The Inauguration took place on 9th June, 2022 at the Universal Learn Direct Academy and was a heartwarming event attended by pressmen, Nigerian plumbing industry stakeholders, members of the GROHE Nigerian team, leaders from the GROHE GIVE initiative and interested members of the public who all excitedly participated in the unveiling of the country’s first-of-its-kind, avant-garde plumbing training academy.

The completed vocational academy is a state-of-the-art, fully functional and furnished training facility that promises world class plumbing education to young students per cohort. Built in line with a  pro-student design, the academy will be led by highly trained instructors who will spearhead training and guide students through the practical oriented curriculum on the nitty gritties of plumbing as well as sessions on how to utilize Grohe’s ultramodern plumbing tools and products. Trainees will benefit from the global brand’s vast expertise and upon completion of the program, they will receive an internationally recognised certificate.

“It took nearly two years of intense work, designing and correspondence to build this fantastic training facility and I’m quite delighted that it’s finally completed,” said Christopher Penney, Leader GIVE Programme LIXL EMENA, while speaking at the event. “Our practical oriented curriculum will feature 8 different modules on the basic aspects of plumbing and different Grohe products. There will be a written examination after which we plan to harness our connections to plumbing distribution companies for potential job placements and work experience for our trainees. This new training facility in Lagos is the 5th academy we have built and a very optimistic start to the bigger goal we aim to achieve with GROHE GIVE.

By 2025 we want to have built 100 schools and by 2026, at the rate of 100 students per cohort, we aim to be able to train 10,000 students per set on GROHE products through the GIVE program.”

Attendees of the Inauguration were given a taster of what the GROHE GIVE training academy had to offer as they were recipients of live, one-on-one tutorials on the different functions and structures of innovative GROHE tools and products. The academy is also open to qualified plumbers who want to learn about GROHE products and their effective utilization.

As the GROHE GIVE program is intended to produce knowledgeable, top-tier technicians, companies and customers across Nigeria will be able to rely on the practical expertise of the trained students and tap into their vast resource of knowledge and experience. The training academy will perform the all-important function of upgrading the level of expertise in the Nation’s plumbing industry and helping sanitary workers build their skills, capacity and technical know-how.
