CNN/Multichoice Introduces Young Journalist Category

By Gilbert Alasa.
Young journalists not older than 26 in broadcast print and online media (both full-time and freelance) can now apply for an opportunity to grab Africa’s most prestigious journalism award.
The new category, named after the late Maggie Eales in recognition of his passion for grooming young talents, will recognise the work of journalists starting out in their career, who demonstrate exceptional story-telling and the ability to identify a story and tell it with conviction.
The award is organised annually by the CNN/MultiChoice African Journalist Competition to recognise the role of journalists in Africa’s development and encourage journalistic talent across all media disciplines.
Winners will enjoy an all-expense paid networking program, including workshops and the gala night. Each winner receives cash prizes alongside material awards.

Applicants could submit works in 11 different categories. The overall winner will get additional cash prize and will be eligible to participate in the CNN Journalism Fellowship at CNN Headquarters in Atlanta.
Applications for the prestigious awards close on Thursday March 24, 2016.
