Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez could become Manchester United’s most expensive signing, following reported talks between the two clubs.
The last Real Madrid player to rock up at Manchester United ended up losing his place to Ashley Young , but James Rodriguez could replace Angel di Maria as the club’s record signing in the summer.
The 2016 UEFA Champions League finalists have reportedly offered United the chance to sign the 2014 World Cup’s best player for £60million.
Rodriguez, 24, joined Real in 2014 but has endured an underwhelming second season and is no longer regarded as a first-teamer at the Santiago Bernabeu. Rodriguez has started just four of the last 12 games.
United need a forward to sprinkle some stardust up front and Rodriguez would provide that. He is also adept across the front three, although he would likely demand a central role given how bluntly United have attacked this season.
