Bauchi—The Sarkin Arewa (King of the North) in Bauchi State, Hassan Sherriff, has lambasted the National Working Commitee of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by it National Chairman, Uche Secondus, for allegedly wooing former President Olusegun Obasanjo back into the party.
Sherriff who stated this during a briefing in Bauchi said the action of the PDP was relegating the party to the background, describing it as insane.
The former PDP stalwart noted that there was no sense in the PDP begging Obasanjo to return back to the party as the former president publicly denounced the party by tearing his membership card. He said: “What is PDP National Working Committee looking for from Obasanjo, who only a few years ago threw the party into the dustbin by tearing his membership card? I think this is the big question the entire membership of the PDP and its supporters ougth to be asking themselves.”
“I have decided to quit the PDP after serving the party for over 10 years because of all these anomalies in the party. The deliberate delay of the passage of the 2018 budget by National Assembly members for seven months put a cog on the wheels of national development.”
He added that the campaigns of calumny against the APC government in Bauchi State by the opposition PDP members and their cronies have, to a significant extent, retarded the wheel of progress of the state. Sherriff, who denied pitching tent with the ruling APC in the state, said he would soon announce his new party with an unprecedented followership.
