Ban on former UEFA president Michel Platini by the Court of Arbitration for Sports has reduced to four years after unsuccessful attempts to overturn the earlier six-year ban.
The 60-year-old who also served in FIFA alongside ousted president Sepp Blatter were last year found guilty of ethics breaches over a $2m (£1.3m) “disloyal payment.”
The duo, who earlier denied any wrongdoing, had the original bans reduced from eight to six years by the FIFA appeals committee.
Last year, the FIFA Ethics Committee banned its suspended president, Sepp Blatter, and the president of UEFA, Michel Platini, for eight years each. The duo were suspended after the committee decided that a $1.94 million payment to Platini by Blatter in 1999 was against the ethics code regarding financial dealings. The committee was chaired by Hans Joachim Eckert. The two have been banned from all football-related activities – administrative, sports or any other both at the national and international level.
